The Tiler
The tiler (or outer guard) is protecting the masonic lodge (or more specifically the room wherein the proceedings occur) from the outside. He
ensures that only regular and recognized masons enter and communicates requests for admission to the junior deacon (or inner guard).
When arriving at a lodge already in progress, it is he whom we generally encounter; hence, we call this section of the website "The Tiler."
